Minnkota Power is seeking applicants for an Apprentice Electrician located at their headquarters in Grand Forks, ND.
Job responsibilities include:
Working under the direction of a heavy crew foreman, senior electrician or electrician
Assembling, installing, and maintaining switch tower and substation steel
Installing and maintaining buss work, switch arresters, and associated insulation in both an energized and de-energized condition
Wiring and troubleshooting relay and control panels
Doing commercial wiring
Reading substation meters
Installing and maintaining station battery bank, chargers, invertors, and convertors.
Maintaining HVAC systems in a variety of shops, offices, and control houses.
Installing, testing, and maintaining (including rebuilding) circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers and voltage regulators
Filter and degas insulation oil and maintains equipment for same
Takes oil and gas samples and perform analysis on each
Maintains a variety of motors, generators, and power and hand tools
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion
Maintains record of activities as required by employer or regulatory authorities
Qualified applicants must be able to:
Work under close supervision.
Operate and work from a variety of utility lift devices such as: ladders, scaffolds, fork lifts and bucket trucks
Operate a computer
Comply with all applicable safe work practices and rules set forth by the company, state and federal regulatory agencies
Travel overnight when required
Employees in this role may work nights and weekends as necessary and some overnight travel from home base is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Individual must have completed a two-year degree in electrical technology (or similar program) OR have equivalent experience
Must have, or be able to, obtain and maintain a Class A driver's license.
Must be able to read, write, and understand instruction manuals and blueprints
Must be able to work in all types of weather due to emergency responses in inclement weather.
Must be able to undertake strenuous physical activity and meet the physical and mental requirements of the job
Education
Preferred
Associates or better in Electronics Technology or related field
