Summary: Set up heavy construction and On-track equipment, operates variety of equipment using each for intended purpose.
Operates equipment to move, load, or unload materials and installs equipment or attachments on machinery or related structures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to: Sets up heavy construction and On-track equipment.
Operates equipment for the purpose it is intended for.
Operates equipment to move, load, or unload material.
Operates On-track equipment to rehabilitate, constructs, or install railroad track.
Installs equipment or attachments on machinery or related structures.
Signals directions or warnings to coworkers.
Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with governing regulations, policies and procedures.
Performs equipment safety and general maintenance checks.
Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
Repairs and maintains equipment, communicating additional repairs to mechanics when necessary.
Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utilities, other equipment, other workers, structural objects, and through traffic.
Works with Truck drivers loads and offloads equipment as it arrives and exits project site.
Studies instructions, plans, and diagrams to establish work requirements.
General, other responsibilities and duties.
Keeps records of material and equipment usage, problems encountered, and daily progress logs.
Competencies: To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Minimum of one year experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment.
A valid Commercial Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Driving Record.

Uses hands to handle and control materials, tools and vehicle controls.
May sit for long periods of time in a closed vehicle/machine.

Uses close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Moves or lifts heavy equipment and objects up to 50 pounds.
Uses eye-hand-foot coordination.
Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.

Must be able to work in all types of weather, including very hot and very cold weather.
Exposed to live track/trains/moving equipment.
Exposed to loud noises.
Education and Training: GED or High School Diploma.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Schedule: 7:00am - 4:30pm (OT when needed during peak season), M-F, 1/2 hour lunch, days and hours may vary.
