Technician & Surveyor 494366 Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States Unified Communications Communications Full-time Staff Closing on: Mar 14 2024 Salary/Position Classification $46,300+ Annual, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime) 40 hours per week 100% Remote Work Availability: No Hybrid Work Availability: No Purpose of Position This position is part of the Unified Communications team and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of communications equipment and cabling for voice, data, and video networks; and works with direct supervision and guidance from a senior-level technician.
Duties & Responsibilities Install and Maintain Infrastructure Equipment & Cabling Using proper guidelines and standards, install, maintain, and troubleshoot cabling and equipment related to voice, network, and AV.
Monitor, test, and troubleshoot installed cabling to verify system integrity and adherence to specifications.
Plan and organize duties with assistance from the supervisor.
Communicate with peers and customers to ensure proper installation needs are met and problems resolved.
Lift and carry sometimes heavy material to jobsite.
Climb ladders, enter confining spaces, and work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
Ensure work facilities are restored to safety standards when all work is completed.
Maintain Communications Records of Work When Complete Maintain campus infrastructure drawings, records, and specification requirements.
Complete timesheets by the due date 80% or more of the time and track time in the tracking system.
Document and update projects in the tracking system to track project progress.
Utility Locating Responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient marking to locate the underground utility infrastructure and complete the necessary documentation of each location.
Other Duties Develop and maintain contact with people in key positions pertinent to other duties and responsibilities.
Attend conferences and workshops to continue professional growth and development.
Remain as current as possible with related new technology.
Research new products and services that may benefit supported departments.
Participate in departmental meetings.
Serve on campus-wide committees and participate in campus-wide meetings when applicable.
Other duties as assigned.

Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications Working technical experience with PBX, voice mail, interactive voice services, call management systems, and telecommunications accounting systems.
