*JOB TITLE*: *Grain Flaker and Utility Supervisor*
*HOURS: Full Time*

*REPORTS TO*: *Plant Manager – MGI Grain Processing*
*POSITION SUMMARY*
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of RiceBran Technologies’ _MGI Grain Processing_ subsidiary in East Grand Forks, MN; chiefly focused on the facility _grain flaking, packaging, and boiler utility operations.
_ Establish department metrics and report updates/adherence to established goals to site management.
Willing to temporarily work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends as needed.
Other duties as assigned by management.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* * *Safety, Health and Regulatory:* S_uccessfully engage with MGI’s safety program, supporting adherence to all applicable laws as well as MGI and Rice Bran Inc.
safety initiatives: in written documentation, team actions, and program intent.
Maintain all relevant MN state operating permits and certifications for MGI’s boiler and utility operations.
_ * *Quality Assurance:* Experience with TQM, 5-S, Six Sigma, or other disciplines would be beneficial.
This position will lead MGI’s flaker operations such that customer quality, paperwork and service expectations are successfully met.
Perform ongoing process testing – as needed – to ensure compliance to established quality specifications.
* *Sanitation and Food Safety:* Support and follow GMP’s, HACCP programs, and MGI’s successful 3rdparty audit or customer audit results.
Responsible for department contributions to MGI’s food safety efforts.
Ensure equipment is thoroughly inspected at the beginning and end of shifts, process changeovers and as required by the site food safety plans.
* *Employee Development:* Improve employees’ skills, training, and process knowledge.
Take an active role in the professional development of the MGI flaker department, supporting members’ development congruent with MGI’s business need and individual’s career goals.
Responsible for department staffing needs, scheduling, and retention * *Operations and Utility Maintenance:* Lead and support flaker operations, executing production in accordance with MGI plant scheduling; prioritizing safety, customer satisfaction, quality, and plant efficiencies.
Manage production and inventory through LEAN manufacturing philosophies and in coordination with site management and order planning.
Fully implement MGI’s workorder management, preventative, and predictive maintenance programs for the department.
Safely operate MGI’s boiler in compliance with all applicable MN state permits, certifications, and license requirements.
Primary holder of MGI’s state boiler license.
* *Continuous Improvement*: Knowledgeable of processes to develop and execute improvement initiatives.
Experience in LEAN manufacturing and reliability centered maintenance programs is preferred.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills are key to success.
Successfully work with other MGI teams in collaborative efforts to safely meet customer needs and improve business results.
*QUALIFICATION:* *Required Experience:* * Minimum of 5 years in food/food related industry OR 5 years in grain processing/elevator management * Minimum 2 year direct supervisory experience is preferred * Demonstrated process and mechanical aptitude, leadership skills * Prior boiler or utility experience a plus *Required Job Skills:* Must be able to use personal computer equipment and be proficient in MS Word and Excel to support office work and administrative functions.
Experience with plant/equipment maintenance programs.
Computer literate and an effective team communicator.
A process orientated approach to problem solving will be needed in resolving issues, either with external or internal stakeholders.
Must be results orientated and drive for positive change.
*Minimum Required Education:* High School Degree or Equivalent *REQUIRED* Bachelor’s Degree *PREFERRED*: Agribusiness Management, Engineering, Food Science, or related fields Agriculture/Food/Grain Handling Experience a Plus *SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS, COURSES OR OTHER TRAINING* * Safety Training.

Exposure to ambient working conditions with the potential for temperature extremes.
Ladder ascension/descension etc.
