Education: High school diploma or high school equivalent.
Preference to those with a bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
Preference to applicants with North Dakota Teaching License.
Qualifications: Human relations skills, basic academic skills, ability to work on teams, experience working with appropriate grade level of students, and demonstrates effective communication skills.
Job Goal: The Multi-lingual paraprofessional works cooperatively, assisting the Multi-lingual teacher and classroom teachers in the instruction of Multi-lingual Language students.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist the Multi-lingual teacher and classroom teacher in achieving Multi-lingual program objectives by working with individual students or small groups and using techniques consistent with program design.
To reinforce learning of materials, concepts, and skills initially introduced by the Multi-lingual teacher or classroom teacher.
To work with targeted students, using a variety of materials and instructional methods under the direct supervision of qualified teachers.
To confer with the Multi-lingual teacher or classroom teacher on behavior or other problems about individual students.
Maintain confidentiality.
To attend professional development activities as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand.
Lift sixty (60) lbs.
occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl.
The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely.
Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher, Building Administrator.
