Summary of Work
Supervise students in school setting.
Implement (per direction from Teacher of the Deaf) learning activities such as academic and social emotional lessons.
Assist with implantation of Individual Education Plan as directed.
Communicate activities and/or incidents through logbooks and reports, etc.
Assist students with classwork.
Schedule and monitor students' work assignments.
Facilitate language acquisition through modeling, questioning, and expansion.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires high school diploma or equivalent, two years of work experience in providing care for children with special needs, this may include assisting with the development and implementation of programs or services or deaf children.
Individuals are required to become skilled in sign language communication within one year of employment.
Each year of college that included courses in special education, social work, psychology, education, or child development will substitute for a year of the work experience requirement.
