This includes working with, training, and supervising academic tutors and the Testing Services Specialist.
The coordinator oversees requests for study skills presentations, works through academic challenges with departments, works closely with the testing services staff, and oversees the demand for peer tutoring appointments.
The coordinator will work with faculty, staff, and students to reduce barriers to academic success.
This position is part of the Student Academic Success and Career Engagement unit.
Duties & Responsibilities Oversee study skills support, peer tutoring and testing services Oversee study skills support needs and classroom requests on campus Research and explore best tutoring practices and technologies to provide optimal resources for students Continue to grow the online options for tutoring Identify, establish, and connect with academic departments to create new opportunities for tutoring within high-demand classes Provide leadership and direction for study skills support and peer tutoring opportunities Assess/evaluate for tutoring programs and maintain overall tutoring budget Work in conjunction with the Director of Student Academic Success to maintain testing budget Maintain CRLA certification to include training tutors in accordance with CRLA certification Manage demand for study skills support appointments and requests for classroom presentations Provide oversight on data collection process within study skills support, tutoring and testing services.
Use data to inform decision-making.
Maintain regular check-ins with tutors and Testing Services Specialist and oversee their Starfish hours Work in conjunction with Events and Communication Coordinator to keep website, marketing materials, and semester marketing plan up to date Recruit, train, and supervise 20-30 student peer tutors Supervise testing services specialist Oversee and train Academic Core Advisors who serve in an study skills support capacity Required Competencies Ability to consider study skills support in conjunction with UND’s Strategic Plan Align goals of tutoring with the Strategic Plan Ability to work independently and collaboratively Ability to receive feedback and implement feedback for future initiatives Ability to respond to changing environments Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to pay attention to detail Demonstrated leadership skills Effective use or change of processes/delegation of workload Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and maintain collegial relations Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree 2 years of experience in higher education or K12 education 1 year of experience supervising students and/or staff Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree 3+ years of experience in higher education 2+ years of experience directly supervising students and/or FTE staff Experience working in a testing center, peer tutoring center and/or study skills support center Experience with utilizing learning theories in instruction, tutoring, or supporting students Please note, all employment postings close at 11:55pm CST.
