Assistant Professor, Biomedical Engineering, Tenure Track 494231 Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States Full-time Faculty Salary/Position Classification $92,000+ dependent on qualifications and experience, 9-month contract, Tenure-track, Exempt 40 hours per week 100% Remote Work Availability: No Hybrid Work Availability: No Purpose of Position The Biomedical Engineering program in the College of Engineering & Mines at the University of North Dakota is a pioneer in innovation-based learning (IBL), a model aimed at providing students with the necessary skills to be leaders in biomedical innovation.
We are searching for two tenure-track assistant professor faculty members to support the program’s teaching and research missions.
Both positions are expected to begin August 16, 2024 Duties & Responsibilities Teaching Biomedical Engineering courses in IBL style Developing an externally funded research program in Biomedical Engineering Advising students in course planning and fulfilling graduation requirements Communicating effectively in the English language with students, families, faculty, staff, and other professional colleagues in person and at a distance Each successful candidate will be expected to have a workload of approximately 35% teaching, 55% research, and 10% service for the initial two years.
Teaching responsibilities include graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the faculty member’s area of expertise.
All faculty members are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and professional community.
UND and the College of Engineering & Mines value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from underrepresented backgrounds to succeed Required Competencies Practiced Project Based Learning pedagogy teaching experience in the past Broad knowledge of emerging biomedical engineering challenges and research potentials Excellent written and oral communication skills, including evidence of the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the College of Engineering and Mines Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery Demonstrated Ability to work with industry Minimum Requirements PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field A strong record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications in Biomedical Engineering Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level using project-based learning pedagogy Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
