Purpose of Position
The Department of Aviation at the University of North Dakota seeks qualified applicants for a 9-month, tenure track, faculty position at the rank of Assistant.
The anticipated start date for the position is August 16, 2024.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Teaching various aviation courses (3/3 course load equivalent for Assistant Professors) at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Teaching various aviation graduate courses to include safety, research design, flight courses and human factors.
Maintain at least a 20% research load working toward externally funded grants in an aviation discipline.
Advising students on academic and career aspirations.
Serving on departmental, college and university committees, as assigned.
Supervising graduate students conducting scholarly activities.
Required Competencies
Ability to teach and develop a broad array of aviation courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Ability to conduct quality academic research.
Competent in using scholarly tools such as “R.
”
Minimum Requirements
Ph.
D.
, Ed.
D.
or J.
D.
degree.
5 years of professional aviation experience.
Evidence of established record of successful, collegiate-level classroom teaching in aviation.
Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications
FAA Pilot and Flight Instructor certifications.
Published research.
