Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics 493719 Grand Forks, North Dakota, United States Full-time Faculty Salary/Position Classification $70,000 - $72,000 Contract, Exempt 40 hours per week 100% Remote Work Availability: No Hybrid Work Availability: No Purpose of Position The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Dakota is seeking an Assistant Professor in applied mathematics.
This is a 9-month, tenure-track position contingent on availability of funding.
The Mathematics Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and currently offers a BS in Mathematics, MS and MEd in Mathematics, and MS in Applied Statistics.

Duties & Responsibilities The successful applicant will receive a contract with an approximate distribution of 65% research; 25% teaching; 10% service effort for the first year.
By year 3, the successful applicant should expect to devote 50% of their time to research and teach a 2-2 course load per academic year.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in applied mathematics Advise and mentor undergraduate students Advise and mentor graduate students; direct graduate theses and independent study projects Establish a solid and productive research program with emphasis on an area of applied mathematics, including seeking extramural funding to support individual and collaborative projects.
Serve as a catalyst for attracting and supporting graduate students in the MS in Mathematics Program Required Competencies Excellent written and oral communication skills The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Mathematics Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery Minimum Requirements Earned PhD in Mathematics by August 15, 2024 Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
