MINISTRY SUMMARY
This position has primary responsibility for providing genuine love for kids who is an energetic, organized team player to assist in leading all aspects of our HOPEkidz programming.
This individual will have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ who desires to support the ministry and mission of HOPE Church by implementing it from a child and family perspective.
MINISTRY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
Create and grow a vibrant and compelling worship and learning environment for kids who are believers as well as non-believers Support volunteers on Sunday mornings, mid-week programming, and special events Intentional encouragement of volunteers through verbal and written appreciation Communication to parents and visitors via conversations, website, Facebook, mailings, announcements, creating brochures and signs, etc.
Develop growing followers of Christ: children and adults alike Recruit, equip, schedule weekly volunteers, and appreciate volunteer teams Organize and lead special events (This often requires temporary additional work time.
) Prepare inviting spaces within our HOPEkidz areas (organizing, stocking and decorating rooms) Identify opportunities to involve the kids in church activities and make each time even better Participate in growth opportunities such as conferences, Growth Track, a life group, etc.
Maintain ministry data (background checks, online forms, contact information, etc.
) QUALIFICATIONS A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and love for His Word A love and value of children, and the spiritual growth of children High collaboration skills - works well with other church staff members and shows compassion for others Leadership experience (leading volunteer teams as well as children) Willing to be flexible; to go above and beyond An attitude of servant leadership and leading by example Teachable spirit (responsive and available) Organized, efficient, and able to multi-task Self-Motivated Knowledge of child development (physical, mental, and spiritual) Proficient with technology Creative and willing to think outside the box Excellent communication skills (with coworkers, volunteers, parents, and children) Able to anticipate ministry needs in advance and problem-solve ideas and solutions Confidence speaking in front of groups Ability and willingness to address conflict between parents, volunteers, and co-workers TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT The HOPEkidz Staff Member will receive guidance, instruction, and support from the Children’s Director.
It is expected that the HOPEkidz Staff Member to take part in recommended training and development activities, as suggested by the Children’s Director.
It is assumed that training and learning will be an ongoing part of this staff position.
TIME COMMITMENT Part-time position: 20 hours per week Monday - Sunday; an understanding that more or less hours could be needed during certain time periods.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Responsible for: HOPEkidz volunteers in assigned ministry area.
Responsible to: Children’s Director Works closely with: The HOPEkidz staff, HOPE Church staff, and a variety of church volunteers and lay leadership.
LENGTH OF SERVICE The length of service will be for an indefinite period of time.
HOPE STAFF TEAM EXPECTATIONS Be present and/or participate in weekly worship services.
Function as part of a team; working to maintain and develop relationships within the staff, to exercise care in disagreements, and to be supportive of one another on the staff team.
Any concerns should be communicated in a timely and biblical manner.
Maintain regular hours determined in cooperation with immediate supervisor.
Attend the following meetings: Regular staff meetings Staff, council, or ministry division retreats as requested by the Lead Pastor or Executive Pastor To live as a part of the community of Hope Evangelical Covenant Church.
To prepare and submit an annual report to the Church Council/Board, if necessary.
Because we value the teachings of Matthew 6:19-20, it is expected that all HOPE Church staff give a tithe of their income to the ministry of HOPE Church.
To be supportive of the Mission, Vision, Values, and general spirit of HOPE Evangelical Covenant Church.
To maintain appropriate confidentiality in all personal, corporate, and financial matters.
To assist all the staff in maintaining an atmosphere that is friendly and above reproach.
This includes working to protect the reputation of each of the staff and the entire church.
Provide leadership and operations to specific areas of ministry.
Because HOPE has a high volunteer ethic it is expected that specific attention will be given to cultivate volunteers in the areas of ministry and responsibility.
Coordinate and communicate ministry plan and activities with other staff to ensure a coordinated work and a team approach.
Not performing these duties or meeting the expectations may result in evaluation of the position and potential termination.
If requested to surrender the staff position, do so in such a way as to not damage the reputation, ministry, and unity of HOPE Church.
