Position Summary
An Accountant I is responsible for maintaining the cooperative’s accounting and asset records for Minnkota Power Cooperative, Square Butte Cooperative and Northern Municipal Power Agency.
This position also performs various auditing, accounts payable, tax, and electronic records management duties.
The salary range for this position begins at $62,570 per year.
Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and previous relevant experience.
Essential Responsibilities
1.
Process and Maintain Accounting Records
Prepare calculations and reconciliations to support accounting entries and records
Prepare accounts receivable invoices
Code and review cash receipts
Assist payroll administrator with processing payroll, including analyzing and inputting employee payroll deductions
Accounts payable processing
Assemble information for financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
Provide information for annual audit of financial statements
Assemble tax information and reports
Develop reports on financial information
Prepare and file financial assurance documents and EIA reports

Maintain Asset records
Close capital projects into property records
Maintain asset records and depreciation schedules
3.
Process Cooperative Power Bills
Assist with cooperative power bills
Prepare annual changes to billing units and rates for the various power billing components

Assist with Auditing Duties
Perform power plant and coal contract audits
Review coding on accounts payable vouchers and credit card transactions
5.
Accounts Payable Duties
Accounts Payable processing
Work with Procurement personnel to remedy PO/invoice issues
6.
Electronic Records Management for the department
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required:
Bachelors degree in Accounting
Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

1-3 years of experience in similar accounting duties/an accounting role
