Job title: Interventional Radiology Technologist
Job Summary:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for providing technical support and assistance during interventional radiology procedures.
This position requires a deep understanding of imaging techniques, radiation safety protocols, and a keen eye for detail.
The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while ensuring the comfort and safety of patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.
Prepare and maintain the interventional radiology suite to ensure proper functioning of equipment and supplies.
2.
Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to plan and execute interventional radiology procedures.
3.
Assist in patient positioning and preparation for procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to sterile techniques.
4.
Operate interventional radiology equipment, such as fluoroscopy units, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) systems, and CT scanners.
5.
Administer contrast media and other medications under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
6.
Monitor patients during procedures, recognizing and promptly responding to any adverse reactions or complications.
7.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to document and communicate patient information, ensuring accurate medical records are maintained.
8.
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring the appropriate use of protective gear and minimizing radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
9.
Troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and communicate any maintenance or repair needs to appropriate personnel.
10.
Keep up-to-date with new interventional radiology techniques and advancements, attending conferences and workshops as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
1.
Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
2.
Valid ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography.
3.
State licensure or eligibility as a Radiologic Technologist.
4.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in interventional radiology procedures.
5.
Proficient understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
6.
Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures, equipment, and imaging techniques.
7.
Strong technical skills in operating interventional radiology equipment and software.
8.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with radiologists, healthcare professionals, and patients.
9.
Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing circumstances.
10.
Attention to detail and critical thinking skills to assess and respond to patient needs during procedures.
