*UNIT MANAGER* *Department: Nursing* *Posting Date: January 9, 2024* *Closing Date: January 16, 2024* *POSITION DESCRIPTION:* The Unit Manager works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing in the ongoing process of assessing needs, planning, and implementing goals and objectives to meet those needs and evaluating outcomes of: 1.
The management of the nursing unit 2.
Outcomes of resident care delivery 3.
Personnel requirements and performance *RESPONSIBILITIES:* · Collaborates with the DON in the development of goals and objectives of the nursing department · Implements and evaluates processes developed to meet the goals and objectives of the nursing department o Coordinates activities and problem solves with appropriate corrective action in collaboration with the DON · Participates in the Quality Assurance Program of the unit as it relates to nursing service and resident care · Identifies educational needs of the unit personnel on an ongoing basis and communicates these needs to the Inservice Director · Completes necessary forms for third party insurance payers on a timely basis · Assists DON and pharmacist to maintain a safe and efficient drug distribution and destruction program · Participates in committees which formulate, implement and evaluate the ongoing operation of the Nursing Department and the delivery of resident care services · Attends conferences, workshops and inservices to expand current knowledge of job responsibilities and requirements · Establishes effective communication with unit nurses and CNAs, medical staff, families, staff consultants, and other outside professionals · Shall adhere to the employee standards and code of conduct in addition to policies and procedures set forth in the corporate compliance program · Works with all unit staff and other departments in a respectful manner to resolve problems brought to their attention.
If unable to satisfactorily resolve the problem, brings the issue to the DON or HR Manager *PERFORAMNCE REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO RESIDENT CARE:* · Reviews referrals for admission, verifying the facilities ability to provide care needed by the resident.
Completes the admission process of residents to assure continuity of care from the referral source · Provides for assessment and development of initial individual plans of care in collaboration with other unit staff, residents, and family members.
o Monitors the ongoing assessment of individual plans of care and evaluation to assure content.
o Reviews resident record and MDS prior to care conferences · Leads regular care planning conference for the unit residents with other interdisciplinary team members to assure continuity and complete content.
· In absence of clinical compliance coordinator, sets up orders for documentation required to support medicare eligibility, select appropriate observations to be completed, assure ADL charting is turned on for C.

When off of Medicare A take GG off of care plan.
· Complete medication review form and send to Aasen Drug pharmacist for review, reconciliation and any recommendations.
After the pharmacist signs off on review give to office specialist to scan into resident’s electronic health record.
· In absence of the clinical care coordinator, order initial medications and supplies for residents on Medicare A benefits.
· Complete preauthorization for medications as needed.
· Attends medicare meetings to update on residents progress and continued eligibility for medicare benefits.
· Provides documentation and diagnosis sequencing to billing office.

Adjusts residents assigned to teams to distribute work load as evenly as possible with input from C.

· Assures follow through of approaches for goal outcomes through communication and resident assignment of staff.
· Meets with DON and QA coordinator daily to review resident concerns.
· Makes daily rounds on all residents as needed.
Stays aware and up to date on resident conditions and concerns.
Supervises resident care, explains new problems and interventions to staff and implements changes in plans of care as needed.
o Assesses pressure sores and all treatments at least weekly.
o Monitors documentation and resident care of unit staff.
· Makes rounds with attending physician and consultants, serving as resident liaison and advocate as indicated.
Complete and carry out orders as received.
· Coordinates continuity of care on all shifts, coordinates services of the unit with all other departments to assure interdepartmental functioning.
· Plans discharge for residents going home.
· Communicates required information to VA contacts and Hospice contacts as indicated.
Prepares information as requested for VA representative visits.
· Collaborates with PT/OT/SLP contracted staff regarding recommendations for residents and communicates instructions to unit nursing and C.

*PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS AND PERFORMANCE:* · Responsible for daily disciplinary process as indicated with assistance from DON and HR Manager, if needed *QUALIFICATIONS:* · Educational Requirements o Must be a registered nurse with a current license to practice nursing in the State of North Dakota · Experience Preferences: o One year experience in the field of geriatrics required.
o Management experience helpful.
· Knowledge preferences: o Membership and participation in professional organizations is encouraged.
o Working knowledge of North Dakota Nurse Practice Act.
o Working knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations for Long Term Care.
o Working knowledge of the Medicare/Medicaid program.
o Ability to work harmoniously with others, be diplomatic, recognize and deal with problem situations, delegates wisely, and be able to lead and organize.
o Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $42.
66 - $45.
