The Surgery Nurse works as part of the team that delivers surgical care during all phases of surgical procedures.
Care of the patient will take place prior to procedures, in the operating room and following procedures.
The nurse possesses knowledge and skills in sterile and aseptic technique, participates in safety measures, maintains awareness of location of supplies needed for the procedures, assists as needed in procedures and prepares surgical environment prior to procedures.
The nurse identifies the early warning signs of a change in a person’s condition and responds appropriately and performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
The surgery nurse will also cross train to Outpatient Services to be scheduled as needed.
UMC specializes in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Endoscopy procedures as well as others.
Hours: 36 hours per week, No weekends; Days vary per week (Typically 1-12 hour shift and 3-8 hour shifts).
Certifications: Registered Nurse, ACLS, PALS
