Columbia Rd.
Grand Forks, ND 58201 Pay Range: $16.
26 - $24.
38 Summary: Schedule: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday, Flexible shifts between 4:00am - 7:00pm.
Working 3 Saturdays in a 6-week schedule.
No Sundays required! *Would be a great position for someone with a Phlebotomy or CNA background.
*This position offers an opportunity to get to know patients who come in routinely.
The Dialysis Technician performs delegated nursing interventions to the stable dialysis patient under direct supervision of the registered nurse according to facility policy.
This may include but not limited to; initiation of dialysis, monitoring patient during treatment, discontinuing treatment, operation of the dialysis equipment, gathering and documenting patient information, and responding to alarms.
Essential Job Functions: Prime and set dialysis machine according to dialysis prescription; test and set monitors and alarms.
Inspect the access site and perform cannulation of the dialysis access to initiate dialysis treatment.
Obtain a blood sample via the dialysis line or peripheral access site.
Administer the following medications considered part of routine hemodialysis treatment: o Local anesthetic by the intradermal route o Heparin 1:1000units to initiate treatment or for administration throughout the treatment o Normal saline administration via the dialysis machine for initiation and termination of dialysis procedure Prepare and adjust dialysate concentrate according to physician orders.
Measure and adjust blood flow rates and fluid removal rates according to policy.
Monitor and record dialysis treatment parameters and make adjustments to treatment including dialysis equipment settings, patient positioning and administration of saline, as directed by the licensed nurse.
Responds to dialysis emergencies and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event of a cardiac and/or pulmonary emergency; immediately seeking assistance from the licensed nurse.
Initiate and discontinue dialysis and establish hemostasis of the peripheral access site.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Certification: Unlicensed Assistive Person - Technician (UAP/T) | North Dakota Board of Nursing | Prior to Start Date | HR Primary Sources Hemodialysis Technician | National Nephrology Certification Commission (NNCC) | Within 18 Months of Start Date | Primary Sources Hemodialysis Technician | Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) | Within 18 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Source Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 days of start date | Learning Management System Notes: Can be credentialed by NNCC or BONENT.
