Position Description
The Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting fertilizer and seed from plant to fields.
The Truck Driver will work with the other members of the team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Load or assist in loading trailer with materials.
Unload or assist in unloading trailer by using conveyor system.
Transport loads over required route to proper destinations, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
Must be able to conduct a standard DOT truck inspection.
Capable of filling out all company and DOT required paperwork.
Must be able to fill out shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures, return completed paper work to shipping office, and to maintain any related records required.
Ability to perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking on a daily basis, oil, water, gasoline, air in tires, and to report any maintenance malfunctions to maintenance department.
Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule when production requires including; ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
General housekeeping and upkeep of working area to include; sweeping, shoveling, vacuum, compressed air, and sanitation.
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
Other duties assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience
High School diploma, GED or demonstrated industry experience.
Valid driver’s license & Current CDL Class A required, or ability to obtain a seasonal CDL before start date.
DOT-minimum age requirement is 21 years.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of working with a computer and mechanical skills.
Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficient and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.
Physical Requirements necessary to perform this job
Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; as a safety sensitive employee subject to random and other required substance abuse screening as per company policy.
Must be able to climb ladders to be able to look into tender boxes/tanks.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
, frequently lift and move up to 80 lbs.
Successful completion of initial and ongoing employment screens, including but not limited to criminal background and vehicle record as required.
