Position Description
The Truck Driver will be responsible for transporting feed from elevators and plants, and will work with other team members to accomplish operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Load or assist in loading trailer with materials.
Unload or assist in unloading trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
Operate semi-truck with one or two trailers, according to state laws.
Transport loads over required route to proper destinations, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
Must be able to conduct a standard DOT truck inspection.
Capable of filling out all company and DOT required paperwork.
Must complete shipping bills of lading including necessary signatures, return completed paperwork to shipping office, and maintain any related records.
Ability to perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline, and air in tires on a daily basis, and to report any maintenance malfunctions to maintenance department.
Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule (rotate days and nights) when production requires, including ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
General housekeeping and upkeep of working area to include sweeping, shoveling, vacuuming, compressed air, and sanitation.
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience
High School diploma, GED or demonstrated industry experience.
Valid driver’s license and current CDL Class A required along with the following endorsements:
Hazmat
Tanker
Doubles
Triples
Per DOT requirements, minimum age is 21 years.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of working with a computer and mechanical skills.
Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficiency, and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.
Physical Requirements necessary to perform this job
Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening.
Subject to random and other required substance abuse screening per company policy.
Must be able to climb ladders to look into tender boxes/tanks.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
