This old cuckoo is called a Railroad type.
It is 14 inches hight by 13 inches wide.
The first time this style was seen it was hung in the local Railroad Office in the Black Forrest in Germany.
I would guess it is easy made around 1880.
It is a typical cuckoo, it will cuckoo on the hour the number of the hours and once on the 1/2 hour.
It has a great deep even old sound.
The ticking is a bit louder than newer cuckoos and yes it is a bit rough in that it "clunks" once in a while.
Please note the hand carved bird with moving wings and hand carved lattice Yes I gave the bird a bath also.
I did refurbish this old count wheel movement with new bushing, cleaned with ultrasonic cleaner, and oiled with the best synthetic oil you can buy.
It will last many years now without yearly maintenance.
I did remember to take some pictures off it while apart.
The movement is stamped "GK", Gebruder Kuner the maker of the movement.
What a conversation pice to have on your wall.
If you would like more pictures or information please text me.

thanks.
(by the way I do work on others clocks also)
