Job description $5,00 SIGN ON BONUS! No nights, weekends or holidays! Pay range for licensed, credentialed technicians is $20+ per hour.
The purpose of this position is to assist veterinarians to plan, coordinate and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health and client education, and to promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical work and administrative detail at Kindness Animal Hospital.
Veterinary Technicians are under direct supervision of Hospital Manager.
There is availability for full or part time positions.
Full time is 30+ hours per week; scheduled days and hours may vary based on hospital need.
Overtime is possible.
This position may require standing for long periods of time and some heavy lifting may be involved.
Full-time employees qualify for a robust benefits package; limited benefits available for less than 30 hours (part-time).
General Tasks: · Follows time clock procedures for clocking in and out at the start and end of the shift.
· Reports to work on time for each shift.
· Ensures exam rooms, treatment areas and overall clinic is clean and tidy, including regular laundering of soiled linens, cleaning/sterilizing surgery/dental tools and following cleaning protocol for isolation clients.
· Assists the Hospital Manager with special projects during slow times.
Major Duties · Follows federal and state animal health laws and regulations including OSHA and DEA.
· Assist in the inventory process of counting pharmaceutical supplies and drugs including the maintenance of controlled substance and surgery logs.
· Assist with completion of daily checklist and maintenance logs in treatment/surgery.
· Exhibit a technical knowledge of products and medications sold, including dietary products.
· Maintain effective communication with the entire team and clients.
· Answer phones as needed to assist with client communication and scheduling of appointments/procedures.
This may include client call backs for routine appointment, dental and surgery follow up.
· Demonstrate technical skills to include: proper animal restraint; administration of subcutaneous fluids; cleaning and dressing of wounds; nail trims; anal gland expression; ear cleaning and medicating; capturing radiographs; surgical post op monitoring; providing immunizations (with treating DVM request) immediately following the exam; preparation of animal for surgery to include clipping, scrubbing and disinfecting operative site; venipuncture; inducing, maintaining and monitoring anesthesia (as directed by DVM); collection/administration of whole blood or plasma to an animal; performing routine lab work such as hematology, serology, microbiology, cytology, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal analysis, skin scrapings and other lab requests by DVM; operation of dental tools for dental prophylaxis; assisting in surgery under the direction of operating DVM; CPR and emergency response practices; other technical skills as deemed appropriate by state regulation and MDVM · Ability to respond to emergency call in a reasonable timeframe and perform emergency services with on call DVM · Fill prescription medication requests while maintaining compliance with medication tracking.
· Attend monthly whole hospital staff meetings as well as regular technician meetings.
· Reviews charts for completeness and accuracy of medical records.
Assure compliance by team of medical records, logs and procedures.
Assists with transcription of medical notes as requested by DVM.
· Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice philosophy.

Skills and Knowledge • Knowledge of the procedures used for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients.
• Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques to sterilize various instruments and materials.
• Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to make preparations and provide “tableside” assistance.
• Strong communication skills and self-motivated with the ability to effectively solve problems and be solution oriented.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services.
This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Critical thinking, emotional intelligence, ability to be fluid in stressful situations, attention to detail.
